Went through with a rental car. They were business-like but friendly. This is a very scenic area. At least the road is blacktop through the border even though all the rest is gravel. On the way back they scrutinized our outfit a little closer and asked a few more questions. No problems, though. Piece of cake compared to driving back into the US from Mexico. Make sure you check your passport when crossing this border. They gave my friend someone else's passport and she didn't realize until 3 days later. How can one make that kind of a mistake and mix them up? I learned my lesson though... always check to make sure you get YOUR passport back. And to you people working there, pay attention as well please and thank you. We don't care about the moose stamp.... Went through on a motorcycle with two other motorcyclists. We got there an hour before opening (remember, time changes when you hit the border there, they open at 8AM). Customs staff were nice but of course very serious. About a mile east of this location up on the hill on the Canadian side is a great overlook. Make sure to make your pile of travel stones. Many of these have withstood years of the 100 mile per hour winds they get there. I bet mine are still there. You can also tent/car camp at this overlook. Nicest customs officers ever! Its cold. But real neat
